Dr. Vinod K. Singhal is working as Consultant Surgeon (Surgical Gastroenterology, Minimal Access and Bariatric Surgery), at Aware Global Hospital, Hyderabad.

He is graduated (MBBS) in 1996 and postgraduate (Masters in General Surgery) in year 2001, from SMS Medical College Jaipur and Dr S N Medical College Jodhpur respectively.

Subsequently he entered into the field of surgical gastroenterology and obtained his super speciality training from SGPGIMS (Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences) Lucknow, where he worked for 3 years (2001-2004). In his tenure at SGPGIMS he worked in the department closely and learned skills in gastrointestinal, hepato-biliary & pancreatic, advanced laparoscopic surgery.

After his post-doctoral experience, he visited some of the best centres in USA and learned finer skills in the field of hepato-biliary & advanced laparoscopic procedures including Obesity or Bariatric. He learned comprehensive management of obese or bariatric patients including preoperative and postoperative care and counselling. Apart from operative or surgical skills in high volume centres of America like- New York Medical College, New York and Mount Sinai Medical Centre, New York, USA.

After coming back to India, he joined Department of Minimal Access Surgery at Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai and worked as Junior consultant initially and later on as Associate consultant. He was key factor in starting the department of Bariatric Surgery in same hospital.

He shifted to Jaipur then and worked as honorary consultant (Surgical Gastroenterology and Bariatric services) in various hospitals of Rajasthan state and helped in establishing the concept of obesity surgery in the state.

In year 2005 (2005-2008) he became an Executive member of OSSI (Obesity Surgery Society of India- now known as Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of India). He is now holding the portfolio of Joint Secretary ( 2009-2012) for OSSI.
